The Pittsburgh Education Commission was created to carry on the duties of Mayor William Peduto's Education Task Force, including overseeing the implementation of recommendations published by the Task Force in its report in five key areas relevant to education in the City of Pittsburgh - public safety, out-of-school time programing, community schools, school funding, and marketing the City schools - and the formation and implementation of new recommendations made by the Commission in the five specified areas and others as determined by a majority of the Commission.
Members of the commission include elected officials, advocates, education leaders, and community members from across the City of Pittsburgh.
This posting is for the four community representatives appointed to the commission, one of which must be a current parent and one of which must be from the faith based community. We are also seeking a current PPS student. Appointees serve without compensation.
